THE JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH

To the left is the Natural Entrance where we started our journey to the center of the earth, not really, but it seemed like it as we walked and walked, down and down. We went down 800 feet. To the right is Katie and I with our lanterns on the left hand tunnel tour. That helps us see what it was like to be the first explorer in the caves. The caves were not made by water, like most caves. It was made by Sulfuric Acid that ate away the rock and made it look like swiss cheese and created huge rooms. We did tours for 3 days and loved being in the caves.

Now you have real cave pictures to match the ones you and Katie drew in your nature notebooks.

  4. Ammon is doing his Science Fair project about caves and how they are made. We would love it if you sent us any information and/or pictures you took. It would be really helpful. Maybe you could be his "expert" for an interview!
